Welcome to My Homepage

I would like to thank you for visiting my homepage. Here you can find more about my education, my research interests, publications, as well as some other stuff about the honors I have gotten in my academic life.

About Me

My name is MohammadReza Modarres. I was born and grew up in Tabriz-Iran. I accomplished my education on bachelor of Mechanical Engineering/Fluids and Heat at University of Tabriz on Mechanical Engineering Campus in 2010-11. I graduated with highest honor. Becoming junior, I engaged with the national project, which was one of the great challenges in pollution control of city buses. Being in this team, caused me to know more about the Compression Ignition Engines and relevant determinant parameters about their efficiencies. This was my first experience with the industrial projects. My supervisor; Distinguished Professor Dr. V. Pirouzpanah (Father of Iran Engine Technology)and I worked on simulation of Mercedes-Benz O.457 compression ignition, internal combustion engine (which is largely used on municipal buses and has a great applications in marine propulsion systems). After simulation of this engine, we validated our acquired results from simulation with experimental data. Our main purpose was reducing the Diesel-Engine-Knock by offering changes in engine main working parameters, like: air-fuel ratio, piston head type, and other significant parameters by proffering materials with especial characteristics in the engine fuel system in order to decrease the after ignition pressure waves frequencies. After my bachelor’s, the next step was my education in the Master of Science in engineering. As one of my interesting fields of studies, combustion in gas turbines, caused me to change my major to one that investigates this physical/chemical phenomenon more precisely and with more scrutiny. Coming to Sharif University of Technology so-called, the MIT of Iran, after passing the national entrance examination with a good result! 23/~46000 participants, opened another door from many doors of my promotion procedure. Not only coming to Sharif University of Technology, but also being familiar with my well-known and fastidious professor and supervisor, Professor Dr. Masoud Darbandi are the greatest events in my lifetime, so far. We have done many industrial projects since Dec. 2011, all individually opened my eyes more than previous to the combustion phenomenon, fluid dynamics, convective and radiative heat transfer, and vortex generation. Therefore, the mutual correlation between university and industry made me more familiar with computational methods and algorithms. Engaging with my thesis, we published our unique idea as a patent. Our assays in combustion science eventuated to two international conference papers, AIAA-2015 and HEFAT-2014 and one in national combustion and fuel conference. The paper which was presented by Professor Dr. Gerry E. Schneider, won the best paper award in CFD studies in HEFAT-2014 and this was a good reward for our endeavors.

The thesis which I have published won the best thesis award with a countrywide honor, 1ST in country, and I was appreciated by the Head of the Iranian Aerospace Society and this honor is the highest possible honor for any student in his/her academic lifetime to achieve.

After working on the chemical reactors, we purposed another innovative criterion for discretization of the reactive flow field into the reactors, for the first time. I believe that the dynamic environment which is made by gathering the Iranian Exceptional talents at Sharif University of Technology help me grew up more intellectually and scientifically.
